Christmas in Helena´s Torp

Swedish Christmas in the

AUTHENTIC WOODEN HOUSE

There is something magical and very authentic about this old, Swedish wooden house from the beginning of the 1900s. This is the home of Helena, Robert, their two teenagers and their two dogs.

The family rented the house from 2006 and bought it in 2012. Inside, they’ve tried to recreate the original house from the era around the beginning of the 20th century, but combined with modern facilities such as a stove, electricity, the bathroom and the kitchen. They’ve attempted to use as many recycling items as possible and they’ve bought lots of materials in various second-hand stores specializing in construction materials. "I’d describe my home as a place full of warmth, and despite the cold floors, a difficult layout and lots of maintenance projects, I’d never leave this home because our house is our safe haven where my children feel at home." Being close to the forest, watching the seasons go by as the farmer works on his field, going for a dip in the stream behind the house, and being unperturbed from time to time are the best aspects of living here!
