A FLOWERY FEEL
We’re visiting Jane’s enchanting and evocative flower universe. Here, you can come by almost all year round to pick your very own bouquet of flowers in her impressive cut flower garden. This highly sustainable trend is becoming more and more popular, and being amongst all these fresh flowers in this fantastic place is just a wonderful experience.
Jane’s dream of having a cut flower garden with lots of wonderful flowers and an outdoor space/orangery with enough space for flowers, creativity and the entire family finally came true. She lives in the countryside, surrounded by fields, on a plot of land measuring 21,000 sq ft (2,000 sq m) and most of the plot is used for the cut flower garden. She’s also got lots of perennials and rose beds.
The joy of growing her own flowers and vegetables has always been there but the dream of having a huge cut flower garden with lots and lots of flowers only started to come true in the past few years. Jane’s garden offers flowers from early spring and until autumn frost sets in.
She grows her flowers as naturally as possible outdoors, without using fertilizers and pesticides, to protect the animals and the environment. The selection varies depending on the season, including daffodils and tulips in spring, and summer flowers, perennials and dahlias in the summer. Some of the flowers can be dried for later use.
Jane sells the flowers as bouquets or single flowers, and she enjoys looking at them in the garden. During the Christmas season, she makes lots of wreaths, using many of her own dried flowers from the garden. We’re going to show you some of them in future editions of the magazine.
In 2016, Jane’s husband renovated an old outbuilding to create the orangery which measures approx. 380 sq ft (35 sq m). This is where Jane has her flower workshop and where she prepares for pre-sprouting, plants and makes bouquets, decorations and wreaths. The orangery has been furnished with marvelous flea market finds and it’s in use all year round. It’s big enough for the entire family and a wood stove has been installed to make it nice and warm in winter. Working with flowers gives Jane so much joy, inner peace and fresh energy.
